My Students

I teach Adapted Physical Education (APE) to students in Pre-K and Elementary. APE is physical education for students with disabilities. I teach at various schools, and the abilities of my students vary. I have students with autism, intellectual disabilities, seizure disorders, and dyspraxia, to name a few.

One thing my APE students all have in common is that they love to move and play!

Not only is PE a great opportunity to stay healthy, but it's also a great environment for learning social skills.

In my class, we play modified games and activities that give the students the supports they need to develop the skills necessary for participating in games and activities with their typical classmates and peers.

My Project

Help my Adapted PE students get the equipment they need to stay active and fit at home! My students, who all have different disabilities, need equipment they can use to safely participate in PE from home.

In order to modify PE lessons, my students need safe equipment that they can use to develop their skills and reach their motor and fitness goals.

It's a challenge to teach PE without any equipment! My students have specific goals such as catching and throwing, and you need a ball to do that!

The Gopher Limited Space Pack offers individual activities and classroom games that can be done in limited spaces with limited movement. Equipment such as foam balls, beanbags, juggling scarves, and cup stacking are novel and motivating to students and safe to use in limited spaces.

These kits would help my students safely develop their fitness and motor skills goals in the limited space they have available at home.
