Fitness Balls to Help Smart Kids

My students need 3 fitness ball chairs to give them the ability to expend energy while working in their seats. My students also need a stop watch for outdoor activities.

My Students

Do you remember having to stay in your seat for a long amount of time in class? Do you remember how difficult it was to focus? Fitness Ball Chairs are a way for students to stay at their seat and expend small amounts of energy while working.

We have an amazing bunch of kids that have to take the End of Grade tests at the early age of 8, or third grade.

The students range with different needs and different strengths. Some students work hard to earn Project Fitness (A field day of races), science clubs, reading tutoring, and more. With all the different needs of our students, these chairs can make a difference their attention in class.

My Project

In many states students beginning in third grade have to take a long End of Grade test. Unfortunately, giving students the help they need all year, such as allowing them to stand while working, isn't permitted during the EOGs. However, having a Fitness Ball Chair is acceptable. This would allow children to practice seat work while expending a small amount of energy.

This project is so important to several of my students.

They are great kids that have a hard time sitting for longer activities. However, we need to build them up to take a long End of Grade Test AND be successful on that test. Many kids will finish a test early just to get up and out of their seat. Having 3 fitness ball chairs would allow me to accommodate the needs of those kids and help build their test taking skills so they are successful in third grade and continue to be in life.
