My Project

Aloha! We’re setting up a 5-tank aquaculture system in our classroom to raise native Hawaiian guppies and grow watercress and wasabi kiekies. Who knew science could be this delicious?

We’re on the lookout for some key items, like water quality testing kits and aerators.

These tools will turn our students into fish doctors and plant whisperers—no fancy degrees needed! With the right gear, they’ll learn to keep our aquatic friends happy and thriving.

Our goals? Simple: we want to connect students with nature and teach them about sustainability, all while keeping it fun. When they take home their watercress, they’ll finally have a reason to say, “I’m growing my own food!” Who wouldn’t want to impress family with a salad instead of takeout?

What makes our students special is our location on the Big Island of Hawai'i, a place rich in agriculture and fishing. They have unique access to the land and ocean, which makes learning about aquaculture even more relevant. They’re curious and full of questions—like, “If fish could talk, what would they say?” With our local culture woven into their education, they’ll become eco-minded thinkers who understand the importance of sustainability in their community.

By supporting our aquaculture system, you’re not just helping us grow fish and plants; you’re nurturing the next generation of stewards for our land and sea. We hope to continually grow these items to share with our community helping with local food production and mosquito control. Your contributions will truly make a difference.
