My Students

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."- Margaret Mead. Every child has the ability to learn and can one day change the world, but this cannot be achieved when the proper resources are so scarce.

Welcome to our kindergarten ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) classroom, where students come from culturally diverse backgrounds and needs.

Our class consists of general ed and special ed students. Our students are filled with curiosity, adventure, and creativity. The teachers and students are trying to set up a wonderful learning experience but are missing key components to continue with a prosperous year.

My Project

Unfortunately, our fishes cannot swim to success when there is a lack of leveled reading books (A-C) for them to fulfill their journey. Children are given weekly incomplete lending library books because the pages are torn, and not enough leveled books can go around to the children for them to increase their independent abilities. Classroom leveled books also are lacking during independent reading time. Children are not given the opportunity to expand on their curiosity, when the same books are read or reading books that at a higher level. When children are given the opportunity to read in a cozy area, they have no rug to sit on, so they have no other choice but their chairs. I cannot tell you how urgently we need a rug. Most of our instruction and children’s independent reading time is done in this area. The meeting area has plastic circles for them to sit, making the experience not welcoming and tiresome. These are kindergartners who need the flexibility to swim around and be creative.

My students deserve to have the richest, most rewarding kindergarten year possible, and it is thanks to people such as yourselves who help a great deal in meeting that goal.

Help my kindergarten continue to be creative, adventurous, and filled with curiosity.
