Our town is a small, farming community located in a rural area of Florida. Our school is a Title I school in which 93.6% of the student population qualifies for the free or reduced-price lunch program. Most of our families don't have the extra money to provide pets for our students.
I have provided a fish tank full of aquatic life so that my students can see nature every day.
Students have studied the underwater ecosystem of the freshwater fish tank and learned how each organism relies on the others in this ecosystem. We are in need of new filters to keep the tank clean and a replacement lid to slow the evaporation of the water.
