Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are so excited to bring a little bit of nature into our classroom through a chick hatching project! Our first graders will have the chance to witness the incredible process of life as we hatch eggs right in our classroom. With your support, our students will learn firsthand about the life cycle of chickens, the science of animal care, and the importance of responsibility.

First grade is an amazing time for students to explore the world around them, and this project will help them connect to what they’re learning about living things, growth, and change.

Observing the eggs hatch and taking care of the chicks will spark their curiosity and give them an opportunity to develop important skills like: observation and documentation, responsibility, empathy and kindness, and hands-on-science

This project will also help reinforce the 5 E's of Science Instruction: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. Students will engage with the material in a fun and meaningful way while building a deeper understanding of how life grows and changes.
