My Students

The majority of the students do not have the means to be part of outside leagues or other activities that will assist them to be better athletically. However the students have heart. We as teachers use whatever resources we have, which is not many, to conduct the classes accordingly. However it is the students that find ways to be creative in order to develop their skills. Just to name a few, they use chalk to draw agility ladders on the floor and lift books as exercise.

Here at Beacon we have five core values which are gratitude, self control, grit, curiosity, and zest.

Research shows that most people who embody these core values are more likely to be successful in life. My goal is to give our kids a set of tools that they can use to succeed in life. I want this learning process to be an enjoyable experience.

My Project

These materials will be a huge help when it comes to our preparation for this coming Middle School Volleyball Season. This will be our very first year with a volleyball team. I think getting these materials will be a tremendous confidence booster for our kids. Our kids will be delighted to actually see someone support their goals and interest.

The sled will be key for the development of leg strength.

In volleyball it is important to have strong legs. Staying low with our technique and being able to jump high up to the net will require a big amount of leg strength. The Pull Up and Dip rack is such an essential training tool. There are so many exercises that can be done with it. My student athletes will be able to target their biceps, triceps, pecs, abs and other muscle groups. The bands will be used to help keep my students healthy through stretching and a series of rehabilitation exercises. Lastly, of course we need the volleyballs so that we can practice and have game balls to play with. Our school colors are green, black, and white so I tried to pick volleyballs that matched.
