Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am so fortunate to work with an incredible group of students who bring energy, creativity, and a thirst for knowledge into the classroom every day. What makes my students special is their resilience and the unique perspectives they bring from their diverse backgrounds. They come to school with big dreams and a determination to succeed, despite the challenges they may face. It's truly inspiring to see them grow and develop, both academically and personally, and I am committed to providing them with a classroom environment that helps them thrive.

Currently, my students’ learning experience is limited by the physical space and outdated furniture.

The resources I am requesting — new lap desks, flexible chair options, and storage solutions — will significantly improve their ability to focus, collaborate, and engage in learning. Comfortable, ergonomic seating will allow students to stay focused longer, while flexible furniture arrangements will foster collaboration and hands-on learning activities. Proper storage will also ensure that materials are accessible and organized, reducing distractions and helping students maintain a sense of order and responsibility in the classroom.

The furniture will directly impact students’ ability to stay engaged and active during lessons. Comfortable, adjustable seating will accommodate different learning styles, whether students need to move around, work in pairs, or engage in independent study. With the flexibility to rearrange the classroom, students will be able to engage in project-based learning, group discussions, and collaborative activities which are crucial for building critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. My goal is to create a classroom environment that supports the diverse learning needs of my students while fostering a sense of community and collaboration. By investing in new furniture, I aim to create a space that is conducive to both focused, individual work and dynamic group interactions.
