My students need materials to aid in writing and math success like calculators, a document camera, and a book binding system for writing journals.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. H.'s classroom raised $412

My Students
This is my first year of teaching, and during my student-teaching placements in college, I had never gained experience in a sixth-grade classroom before. I had experience in fifth grade and seventh grade, but knew that there is a HUGE difference between these two grade levels. So when I accepted the position as a sixth-grade teacher, I had no idea what I was actually getting into. This was either going to be a make or break teaching experience.
I knew that seeing the students on the first day of school before even talking to any of them would determine whether I will enjoy teaching at this grade level, or if I should start looking for a younger grade level teaching job opening for the next school year.
But when I saw those students on the first day, I knew this was the right grade for me. As I have learned, they are still wanting to tell you a story about what their cat did last night, but they also understand humor/sarcasm and can have higher expectations. They are truly a joy to have, and I will not be leaving this position for a long, long time! They rock!
My Project
One item in my request is a document camera. With this, I can show concrete examples of my or one of my students' writing samples to emphasize certain writing traits.
Another item is a book binding system that will be used to create daily response writing journals in my Language Arts class.
This will be used as a spiral review of grammar, and will also have writing prompts with colored pictures to respond to.
The last item in my project is a set of 10 classroom calculators. I only have a mixed set of 10 to share with a class of 21 students in math.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
