Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Group collaboration is an interactive learning activity that targets many skills necessary to excel in school as well as in their future. It promotes higher-level thinking, oral communication, and self management. I also believe that it increases student's self-esteem, and encourages responsibility.

Group collaboration allows students to share their diverse perspectives and it encourages students to tackle more complex problems that they cannot do on their own.

I want to introduce all of these beneficial skills to my 6th grade students. These items will help me create a learning environment that my students will enjoy.

The cart will be used to store supplies for easy access to the collaboration station. The easel pads will be used to take notes and jot down ideas. The highlighters will be used for students to highlight key ideas from text. Buzzers will be used for review games. The tree trunk cushion seats will be used for floor seating in the collaboration area. The electric pencil sharpener is needed to save time and allow the students to quickly get a sharpened pencil and return to their assignments.
