This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first year Special Education teacher who will be teaching 3rd grade this year in an ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) Dual Language classroom setting. Some of my students are English language learners and receive special education services. Students with disabilities who receive ICT services are educated with age appropriate peers in the general education classroom. ICT provides access to the general education curriculum and specially designed instruction to meet students’ individual needs. I will be working in a Title I Dual Language school in the Bronx. About 90 percent of students in the school are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.

Most students have been remote for over a year; I want to make sure that our classroom environment feels both safe and nurturing for their return to in-person learning.

My Project

These supplies will be used by 30 third grade students who are eager to learn in a safe and clean environment. Notebooks, pencils, markers, dry erase boards, post-it notes and glue sticks are important tools to have in the classroom. By having them readily available, my students will be able to always have access to these writing tools and materials to make their learning experience positive and dependable. Paper towels, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizers will be important to have in the classroom.

We are going back to in-person learning, and these supplies will ensure that all of my students are in a safe and sanitized classroom environment.

Now more than ever we know how crucial a clean and safe environment is needed in a classroom. Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces can reduce any remaining germs on surfaces, which can further reduce risk of spreading infection. These supplies will help us tackle the upcoming school year.
