My Project

I am a single mother to two boys and an alumni of the teachHOUSTON program at the University of Houston College of Natural Science & Mathematics.

I am a first-year Chemistry and Biology educator at a Title I funded school in Houston ISD.

What does that mean? It means that a majority of my students are impacted by their socioeconomic status. As a beginner teacher, I do not have any supplies to decorate my classroom and create a comfortable learning environment most conducive to growth. Additionally, my students will be working with models and conducting labs in Chemistry and Biology. My goal for my students is to develop the skills necessary for scientific inquiry and research. Students will benefit from the supplies by having the resources necessary at their finger tips to ensure we can utilize our time wisely.

Every student deserves the chance to inquire, explore, and develop their science skills. This is only possible if their social and emotional needs are first met. The snacks and supplies I am asking for will allow me to create a care closet in my classroom where students can shop and take home items if needed. Additionally, my classroom theme is LIFE with plants and greenery! The highlighters will help as we develop our note-taking skills to become college ready!
