Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a long term Subsitute teacher for fourth grade I have a great admiration for the students at my school. My first year of teaching will be in a 6th grade classroom where I will teach all subjects. Our school is becoming a K-8 school, and will be opening two 6th grade classrooms this new school year. This will then result with the greater grades opening in the following years. Many of these sixth graders are older siblings to my previous fourth graders. More than three quarters of the students are from low income house holds.

My Project

With these materials my students will be able to organize their work. Sixth grade is a big leap for students, at the end of the year they will be tested on mathematics, literature, science, and history. Students will be working with textbooks, workbooks and loose leaf papers. Writers workshop is one of the areas I have seen that students need a designated folder at their desk.

The provided materials will help students to easily access their work.

Allowing them to finish it, or reference back for study. As a long term substitute I have seen how students stuff papers in their desk and then have difficulty finding them when needed. Compared to classrooms where students’ teachers have set a routine in storing their work in the folders they belong. This is a routine I plan to implement in my classroom to help my students succeed in their studies.
