My Students

7 and 8 year old children are smart, funny, and curious! The students at my school come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, mirroring the close knit neighborhood around our school. My students are serious about learning and I want to support them in every way possible.

My school is an IB-authorized school teaching under the umbrella of the Primary Years Programme.

Each grade, has six units of inquiry that promotes global mindedness and positive character traits. Our mission is to empower future citizens of the world.

My Project

I am a first year teacher in need of books for our classroom library. I have received some of the previous teachers books but it is not enough. There are serious gaps in certain genres and subjects crucial to students finding a “just right” book.

With this library, students will become engaged in meaningful reading and writing opportunities.

These books will introduce them to a wide variety of genres and subjects within the second grade reading range. In addition several selections are devoted to our English Language Learners.

So please help a new teacher provide an educational experience to children in need of good books. Thank you for your time and contributions. Also if you have any suggestions I have overlooked, please post them in the comments section.
