My Students

To say that our students have had to overcome a lot over this past year is an understatement. Not only have they had to deal with normal societal and economic pressures, but they've had to do so during a worldwide pandemic. Since returning to school, they are stronger, resilient and more ready to take on the world!

Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district.

Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day and basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.

My Project

As a first year teacher, I have tried my best to provide my students with a variety of instructional materials. Although our classroom has been functioning well for the first portion of the school year, I believe that there are some supplies still needed to enhance student academic and social-emotional learning.

A goal of mine is to provide my students with multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression as they navigate through math, science, physical education, social studies, literacy, social skills, and art during their fourth grade year.

My students are hardworking, motivated, and take great care of currently provided classroom supplies.

All of the whiteboard surfaces and related materials will allow students to practice class content for math, science, and ELA. The whiteboard supplies will also be utilized daily in whole and small group instruction as well as interventions. The books requested will be added to our classroom library, all of which have been requested by my eager readers. The play-dough, LEGOs, and large anchor chart paper will be used for various STEM activities. The gator balls and frisbees will be used for collaborative, team building exercises and daily physical education. Lastly, the digital mouse will help me to present information to my students from any point in my classroom, allowing me to rotate around the room as I teach to provide my students with as much assistance as possible.

All of these supplies would help to provide a rich learning environment where students are able to build on their skills in collaboration, teamwork, physical wellness, and learning though experience.
