My Project

Social-emotional learning has become increasingly important for our children year after year. This fall I will be a first-year Kindergarten teacher and I am prioritizing the creation of an effective Calm Down Corner for my classroom.

My goal is for my students to learn how to identify their feelings through the use of the Little Spot Emotion book and plush sets, and then be able to independently use the Calm Down Corner as they feel necessary.

The calm down corner will be stocked with useful tools, such as yoga cards, breathing boards, and a friendly stuffed animal friend to help students cope with their emotions. This corner will be accessible to students any time throughout the day.
