My Students

My students have little technology available to them, and none in the classroom. They need to have a project, such as a school paper that will initiate and foster continuous improved moral, leadership and ownership of learning, while learning to take pride in their campus.

My students are in an alternative setting, and do not have the typical things a regular campus will have.

There are no teams or clubs, so I am implementing a campus newsletter to create a sense of community in its creation and within the students. They have started the process and are eager to have the tools to complete the newsletter in a professional manner.

My Project

A laptop will be a resource in my classroom that students can use before school starts and during class, that will contain the master layout of the newsletter and gain experience writing articles and manipulating the presentation of information. The color printer will allow us to print a student newsletter, which will be great joy and pride, along with informing students of current and local events, while promoting reading.

This project is crucial to my students and will make a first big step in creating a new ambiance on my campus.

It will be a turning point for how others see our students, and they see themselves.
