I teach first grade in an early childhood school in Brooklyn, New York. The school is a Title 1 school consisting of Pre K through first grade. Many of the children are English Language Learners and more than 85% receive free lunch. Since we are a smaller school, we have a smaller budget. I would like to give my students the opportunity to express themselves through art. The children spend the majority of the day learning to read and participating in math activities. I have many English Language Learners who struggle academically. They absolutely love going to art class, but unfortunately only have it once a week. Art is a great way for children to express themselves and can also be incorporated with reading and writing. I feel my students would be more excited about school and learning if they had more opportunities to express themselves artistically. I am asking you to please donate art supplies for my classroom. I would love to see the smiles on my students' faces when they open the package. Thank you in advance for your generous donation. I know all my students will enjoy and benefit from it.
