My Students

I currently have 24 six and seven year old students in my classroom. I am teaching first-graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and two ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Several of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.

My Project

My 24 first graders would greatly appreciate new backpacks. Their current ones are falling apart and they can not afford to get new ones.

They will use the backpacks to hold their homework as well as important papers.

They will use the lunch boxes that come with their backpacks to hold their snacks. Everyday, I send my students home with food so that they will have something to eat.

My students have told me that they love superheroes as well as Disney characters. I have chosen book bags for them they will bring them lots of JOY.
