Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are very active kids with an enthusiasm for learning every day. They love coming to school every day. They see our school as a safe place where they can be comfortable and happy. All my students are Hispanic with English being their second language.

Many of my students come from very large families that are supported by very low incomes.

I have 20 lovely children in first grade who come from Mexico and different parts of Central America.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

My Project

Each year there are students without adequate winter protection. Most of my classes come from low-income families, and their parent struggle to buy adequate clothing for them.

This year I would like to give them a winter to remember.

I believe that a new winter coat is more than a coat, it offers a child not only physical but emotional warmth. That will be extremely beneficial for my students and their families as well.

On the other hand, if they feel loved, they will have more confidence to succeed.
