My Students

Do you remember when you first started to read and found books that made you laugh and that you couldn't put down. For most of my students the only time they are able to read is when they are in school. Where they live there are no libraries right down the street and they have no books at home.

My students range from ages five to seven and they are the most caring, loving kids that you could ever meet.

They enjoy reading, writing and helping each other spell words when they are writing stories. My students come to school everyday and on average I have 98 percent of my students present. Our school is located in a area where parents are low income and some live in shelters. Students in our school start in PreK and stay until they graduate in the eighth grade. When they leave our school we hope they have learned everything they need to prepare for their next step in life which is high school.

My Project

My students need 3 Leap Pad E-Readers to use during center time to enhance their reading ability when they are not working in small groups. These Leap Pad E-Readers will change my students' lives for the better academically. For the students that is just learning how to read, the Leap Pad E-Reader will give them the freedom of reading and listening to a story without asking anyone for help. For the student that loves to read the Leap Pad E-Reader will assist them with increasing their vocabulary and reading skills. They will be able to read along with the story and read words they do not know. For the students that learn how to read by listening the Leap Pad E-Reader will give them the opportunity to listen to a story and understand what they are reading. The Leap Pad E-Reader will address every students' needs for learning to read.

This donation will make a difference in the world of students lives that do not have much and have little opportunity to go to libraries. This resource will give students a second set of resources for learning how to read using the most up to date resources. These resources will not only impact students today but it is my hope it will help to create great readers.
