My Project

Chapter book series' that first graders can get drawn into are critical! In our school district, first graders have to go from reading patterned books to reading chapter books; that is a huge amount of learning that has to happen! For students to enjoy chapter books, they need to be engaged in the book; getting engaged in a series is even better because it provides more books for the students to read!

Henry and Mudge books have shown time and time again to be effective in holding student engagement when transitioning into chapter books!

We do not have many Henry and Mudge books in our classroom, having the complete set would be a dream! We have only a few Puppy Mudge (which are great for getting to know the Henry and Mudge characters before starting chapter books) and Annie and Snowball books as well; these books have Henry and Mudge in them. These books will greatly help our class successfully get hooked on reading chapter books!
