My Students

Our first grade is full of motivated, exciting, lovable students who have taken on the challenges of the rigorous First grade instruction. We are currently in a blended teaching model where my students are in the classroom half the time and learning remotely the other half of the time.

Every morning each of my students greet me with an enthusiastic smile ready to face the challenges of the day.

In the afternoon I check in with the students who are taking their turn at home and we discuss the days work. It's a challenge - but I get to spend the days with my first graders big smiles and it's all worth it.

My Project

Using Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines help enhance our curriculum. The magazines are well written, have wonderful pictures and provide a different type of reading that is exciting to the first graders. We do a unit of study each year in non fiction reading and writing, but by using the magazines - the students are able to continue the non fiction reading work throughout the school year. The digital resources provided by Scholastic also help bring the information to life and provide the background knowledge for the article. My students look forward to getting their new magazine each week.
