This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am running an enrichment camp for first graders, who will enter my second-grade classroom in the fall. The students will learn how to grow food from seeds and use those foods to nourish their bodies. After starting the seeds and planting them in our school garden, we will harvest some in the fall to create foods to enjoy as a class.

Students will learn what plants need to survive and thrive while providing their bodies with food to help them glow, grow, and go!

This enrichment camp will capture their attention as they end their first-grade year and continue as they enter second grade. I love gardening with my children and see how excited they get each day as we check our garden. I am hoping to provide my students with this same opportunity since most are low-income and don't have access to fresh fruits and veggies.
