My Students

My school is located in south Los Angeles, we are a Title I campus and most of students are on free lunch. We have a high percentage of English Language learners within each classroom.

I moved grade levels again!

I am nervous and excited about teaching 1st grade. My class will be made of 26 five and six year olds, who are on cusp of becoming independent readers and writers.

Our year is off to a great to start and we are settling in with our new routines, but could use some help!

My Project

Getting a wagon and some new PE equipment will really help provide developmentally appropriate physical fitness opportunities for my first grade students. We are mandated to teach at least 20 minutes of PE a day and it is hard to do when we have such limited supplies. Students will be learn a variety of new games and skills, while working together, playing as a team and learning good sportsmanship. I am looking forward to teaching my students tetherball and frisbee because they most likely have not experienced these games and I loved them as a student myself. Having the wagon will allow me to easily store and keep track of these materials for years to come.
