This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in an urban Title I elementary/middle school in the Bronx. This year I volunteered to start up a Girl's Softball Team. Boy, do we need a lot of work! We've never had a girls' team before, so we need several items. The equipment will help the girls build their skills and social skills. Many have nowhere to go after school, so this will be a great opportunity for them to feel a sense of belonging and camaraderie.

Some girls need help financially and they cannot afford the basic equipment to play.

We have purchased a few items already but are short a few more. There are 3 "coach" t shirts added to my wishlist for 3 local High School students who will assist in coaching.
