My Students

My first grade students are eager to learn to read and love to listen to reading. I work at a Title I school in Southwest Florida. Many of my students come to school with few supplies but that doesn’t diminish their passion for learning. My students come to school eager to learn new things and try their hardest every day.

As a teacher, I want to create an environment where children love to come and learn.

My first graders come from a community where families are working hard to provide the basic needs for their children. Our time together in the classroom helps provide a place where children feel safe and develop not only academic skills but also the social skills needed to live a productive life.

My Project

My class will soon be getting five Amazon Fire Tablets because of the generous contributions of donors on Donors Choose! These tablets will be used for reading books, practicing math, and researching Science and Social Studies topics. This project will provide protective cases, headphones, and a charging station for the tablets.

These accessories for the tablets will allow students to work safely and productively while protecting the learning environment for others.

The shockproof cases will provide protection in the event of a dropped device. The headphones will allow the students to work without bothering others. The charging station will give the tablets a home when they are not in use and ensure that they are charged and ready for the next user.
