Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I currently have 18 students in a FIRE: Literacy Class for struggling readers. I would really like to get a copy of the book we're reading together, "Hot Topics: Immigration" for each student in the class. Instead of making copies that the students throw away, having their own book will build ownership, and also allow students to write in their copy to engage more fully with the text.

The additional copy of "Solitaire" will be used as an independent student choice book, and is what the students have selected.

Having a book in the classroom that is shared by the class and is a student choice book will encourage the joy of reading for students, especially those that have never connected those words together before.
