My Students

My students are enthusiastic learners that come to school in order to learn, grow, and have fun.

Many of my students are on free or reduced lunch and are not provided many opportunities as one might think a child should have.

They are always looking to broaden their horizons and open their imaginations to a world outside of Apopka, Florida. My school is a Title 1 school and is currently in a revamping process to allow for student engagement, higher quality education, and an overall sense of community amongst students as well as teachers.

My Project

My students will use these books and magazines to enhance and enrich the fourth grade reading curriculum and provide for more realistic, engaging, and fun passages to read. The passages will be read in whole group to practice the reading standards as well as in small groups to enhance comprehension. I anticipate that we will be able to create reading clubs in which groups of students will meet daily to read and discuss their chapter book.

Incorporating these reading materials in the classroom will help to engage the students.

When the students are highly engaged, they are more likely to participate and when they participate, they learn.
