Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach high school kids from all around New York City. They come from different boroughs and neighborhoods all trying to get away from violent gangs and trying to focus on their education. They are a great group of kids who are always looking for ways to learn new things about technology. They come to the classroom filled with interest and creative minds. More than a positive attitude and thirst for learning, these kids come to my classroom with empty stomachs and excessive troubles brought about by homelessness and other social issues from their communities. They often ask for technology tools and applications that they can use in the classroom to gain more knowledge. For this reason, I’ve decided to set a project that will hopefully give them the ability to be successful in school.

My Project

I plan to use the laptop to develop lesson plans, build activities in the Google classroom, create videos through Flipgrid, use Macbook Apps, and host live sessions via Zoom. Students will benefit from this tool because they will be able to connect with their teachers as they work on their virtual classes. I can use the MacBook Photobooth in generating image projects in STEM class. This technological device will enable me to reach my audience who are learning at home and are looking for ways in which they can further their education while we are keeping safe during this pandemic. It is my hope that I am given the opportunity to be able to virtually connect and teach my students while staying socially distant.
