My Students

Our school is in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. It is a brand new school with a load of potential. The schoo includes students from Pre-K to kindergarten, and it is a melting pot of children from all around the world. PS 938 is in a high poverty area, and about 95% of the students in the school receive free lunch. There are 15 energetic, three and four-year-old children in my class but there are not a lot of funds to enrich these students' education because of the budget cuts and although our families give us support they can't always help out financially.

My Project

The materials I am requesting include crayons, markers, tape, glue sticks and pencils. My students will be using these materials while building their fine motor skills. They will be building these skills while in the classroom and while at home learning remotely. This means I need enough for each child to have their own materials.

Pre-Kindergarten students strengthen their hand muscles by writing with different tools, cutting paper in different ways and by gluing their work down independently.

Having a nice variety of tools will make this work more fun for the students.
