Fine Motor Journals for Preschool

My Students

My preschool room consists of 15 students (special education students and general education students) ages 4-5. They have many different ability levels and needs. My preschool students walk into our classroom every day full of energy. They can't wait to share their stories, thoughts, and feelings. They look around to see what has changed or has been added to our classroom for each study we do. They look forward to all their new experiences.

My goal is to provide my students with a love of learning.

My goal is to do this by providing them with a safe, caring, happy, and fun classroom. They enjoy experiencing new things with their friends. I want to be able to prepare them for a successful future.

My Project

Children learn to plan, scribble, draw, make squiggle lines, mock letters, and write letters and words formed correctly when they are developmentally ready. It is important to remember all students develop these skills differently and at different times. However, we introduce the beginning skills for writing in preschool. It may consist of peeling stickers, snipping and gluing paper, making dots, using a dotter, or many other things to develop the fine motor skills needed for writing. The important thing is giving them a place to practice all the skills that go with writing

Preschool students feel grown and important when they have their own place to do all their important work.

These journals will provide each student a place to keep all their work organized. They will be able to go back and work on pages from previous day or create a new page. These journal will also make it easy to show their progression throughout the year. I would love to provide my students with a place to do all their work as they prepare for their future years in school and beyond. We would love your help making this possible.
