My Students

This year, I know my students have learned first hand that perseverance and flexibility are the keys to success - and they are only 5 and 6 years old!

Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school.

Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district. Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day and their basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun. We hope that we can provide these resources for them to access at home as well.

My Project

My sweet students have had quite a year! We have recently returned to in person learning 4 days a week and they are doing an AMAZING job! One thing they lack, however, is fine motor practice. The requested supplies will help me make sure that we have the tools needed to practice our fine motor muscles on a daily basis.

Painting with water colors, using tweezers to pick up pom poms, stringing beads, or using sticks to build shapes - these are all much more fun ways to strengthen our fine motor muscles than just coloring and writing!

Hole punching and linking plastic links will also provide students with extra practice in a way that doesn't feel like work. Sticker stock will allow me to create stickers for the students to cut and peel. Students will get the practice they need and won't even know it!
