Finding Success Through Engaging Literature

Help me give my students engagement and success through more reading options in the classroom.

My Students

My students are epic. I have a range of lower processing to high honors students. The majority of my students are in multiple sports or fine arts classes, all coming from different backgrounds. Many of them struggle because of their processing challenges but will engage when I give them something that interests them.

With this grant, I would like to purchase books to help engage my students more, helping them to feel successful in every aspect of their academic careers.

Literature is not easy and students tend to "hate" reading, but I would like to have more books on my classroom shelf to use during each lesson to show how fun and interesting all levels of literature could be.

My Project

I have a wide range of students from lower processing to high honors. I have found that these students want to engage in discussions about literature, but do not feel comfortable looking through a library for books to read if assigned.

I would like to purchase books of different genres and levels that I can show and mention during lessons to create intrigue where they otherwise might not have heard or found the book.

These books will be in the classroom, where the students are comfortable and will have easy access to these new books.

The pandemic caused increased anxiety amongst our students, and I would like to help them find the fun, wonder, and escape that reading can give. This generation has lost so much from the pandemic, I feel it is important to bring a feeling of success to these students again, and reading new and engaging literature can do just that.
