This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Students attend school for 7-8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Majority of that time is spent in a classroom, typically seated at a desk. Students are expected to sit properly in a seat for this amount of time, with little consideration to restlessness or movement. What if students were given the opportunity to learn in an environment they felt most comfortable in?

The items listed in this project would give my students this opportunity to take control of their learning, allowing increased classroom engagement and minimizing distractions.

My goal for this project is to give students a choice in where and how they want to learn. Additionally, I want to create an open and welcoming environment for all learners. Whether it be whole group or small group instruction, students would have the option to be closer to the board (on the carpet), take a break from being seated at a desk all day (using a stool or flexible seating lap desk), or work in an area of their choosing with a seat of their choice (flex space floor seats).

Every child is different, and in my new classroom, I'd like each student to feel seen. With your donation, this goal can be accomplished and each student can focus in a way that best suits them.
