My Students

Inquiring minds want to know!! That's what first grade is all about. Nothing is better than seeing little minds at work. A school that supports the academic, social and emotional growth of the children through many avenues that support continuous growth no matter what obstacles may occur. Serving a high ELL and MLL population visual and verbal support is necessary in order to make learning more attainable.

Unfortunately, one third of ethic minority children don’t recognize themselves in any texts they read and this is undermining their commitment to reading,

My Project

The classroom library is typically the resource that supports children's daily independent reading of self-selected books that meet their personal, recreational reading interests. ... Further, an in-class library offers a setting for students to quietly read aloud and discuss a book with a peer or the teacher.

What can be more exciting than having an conversation about a book that you see yourself in by making a real-world connection.

A culturally diverse library helps students see people who look like them who have faced challenges, overcome obstacles, and made a difference in the world. We must provide the resources necessary to help in their literacy and learning.
