My Students

"Creativity is contagious, pass it on."- Albert Einstein Our school's clothing and fashion program is just starting up again. These materials are for a Beginning Clothing class. The students currently have very little in the way of materials and tools available to them and want more!

I teach a diverse group of high school students from all walks of life.

We are at a large public school, which is one of the oldest in the neighborhood. My students are looking to gain practical skills that they can use throughout life, whether they choose to work in the world of fashion or just need to make clothing choices for themselves and their families.

My Project

For a beginning/introductory class, having the basics is essential. Students will have better access to common sewing tools, such as needles, rotary cutters with mats and glue, so that they can expand their creativity, as well as gain hands-on experience. The design elements posters will provide easily accessible reference materials for the students, apart from the textbooks. Students who may be more advanced can use the design pads to begin independent projects.

The students themselves requested from the administration that the Fashion curriculum be added back into their elective options.

They are very motivated and would ultimately like to produce a fashion show for our school community. Your donations to this project will help them to do that.
