Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a second-grade NYC teacher in a Title 1 school. We began using a new ELA curriculum this school year that does not provide hands-on experiences for new information the students are learning.

My students are all ENL students who speak more than one language and they need hands-on experiences to help them understand the difficult topic of fossils.

With the severe budget cuts that have been imposed on city schools this year, all additional curriculum materials were not purchased and the students are left with only partial supplies and limited access to information on the topic of fossils.

These materials will help the children learn about fossils, see them up close, create their own, and read more about them as we do not have literature in my class about fossils.
