Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What would your life look like without technology? The document reader requested is a masterpiece of technology that should be used in class. The main benefit is its size. Students cannot ignore something that fits the wall. It is priceless for students sharing their work.

My students are angels.

They love technology. Technology is like oxygen for them. The document reader will be used in class to display student work for evaluation by the class as well as using the draw features to highlight, underline and write on documents that are displayed. The camera will be used to take pictures of all projects and display them on the DonorsChoose website. I am more than sure that the projects I will display can serve to motivate and inspire teachers to request materials for their students. My students benefit from technology because I can facilitate the school curriculum efficiently and faster. Students in my class work in groups. My school has a variety of students coming from different countries like Cuba, Ecuador, Colombia, etc. 98% of my students speak Spanish. Our school offers assistance to ESL students for about five years. However, after two years attending our school, students are placed in regular classes to learn English faster.

My Project

My first activity I will do with my students is to play the game I used to play with my fifth graders in 1999. The game is "Who am I?". For example, I will say ... I have an exterior angle that measures 15 degrees. How many sides do I have? What is my name? Students can draw an exterior angle containing 15 degrees and as they know by reference that the sum of all exterior angles of any polygon is three hundred and sixty degrees, students will divide 360 degrees by 15 degrees and they can find the numbers of sides of the polygon. The answer will be written on each student's paper and students will place the paper under the document reader to share the answer with their classmates. The teacher and students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively. Teacher and students will find mistakes or real answers. All the students will work on the same pace and the process of learning will expose and help students to communicate with all classmates. The polygon's name is 24-ngon.

I would appreciate it if you give me the opportunity to receive the equipment I have selected.

This year my school will have 60 years serving the community and I want to use technology with my students to ensure they receive a quality education. This year my school lost more than 500 students because parents are attracted to new schools. These new schools have smart boards, LCD projectors, etc and my school has just 3 smart boards and couple of LCD projectors.
