Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My urban New Jersey school library supports the reading needs of almost two thousand students in grades 9-12. Students use the library for more than just school assignments, it is a safe place for their lunch break and a popular before and after school meeting place for the young men and ladies. Most of our students do not have home libraries and we are their only source of outside reading materials. Making it easier for them to find books is the goal of this project.

Our students' library is housed in a nearly one hundred year old dimly lit space, the bookshelves are long, high and not well lit. Despite this, many students embrace reading and, with your help, will be able to easily find books and have a place to return them.

Students visit the library before and after school, between classes and during their lunch times. With the shelf markers they can quickly find books and materials and the cart will allow them to return items with ease.

With your generous donation, you will empower nearly two thousand teen age students, to find reading materials with ease. Thanks to you, the students, many of whom do not own personal books, will have an opportunity to find library books with ease.
