My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. I am the teacher for the First Grade ESE Inclusion classroom, with students of various learning styles and abilities. Many students have blended families and parents who work long hours, sometimes making it hard to provide educational support at home.

"I can do it!" That is the excitement I get to hear when my students learn something new or have achieved a new goal they've worked so hard for!

Each student finds his or her own comfort zone when they are allowed to explore and find out what works for them while working in an inviting environment!

My Project

My students have begun showing interest in sitting on the floor near their desks. Many are using their chairs as a work space. I'd like to give them these lap desks as options for classroom seating.

Seating options will allow my students to be more comfortable and make choices in their learning environment.

Students who wish to use the lap desks can work near their desks or use them during centers time to find a different place in the room. Recognizing my students' interests and providing them with new opportunities will enhance their classroom community and comfort.
