Help Mrs. Taft

I am a high school Family and Consumer Education teacher who has been tasked with the ever important job of teaching our future Financial literacy. While this is not a subject that is easily grasped by high school students it is very important. Through this grant I will be able to give the future the skills they need to become financially responsible. While this may seem like an overwhelming task to many I have learned that students learn best through reteaching and play. We will use both of these to teach financial literacy. Through this project my students will create games that will teach the neighboring elementary school the basic principles of banking and how banking works. They will also have the opportunity to reinforce the skills they have learned in my financial literacy class by playing games that reinforce the concepts that they learned in class. Through the creation of the games and the planning of the elementary school lesson my student will be able to retain the information 50% better than through basic instruction. For this project I will need a variety of items. Some of these items are paper to reproduce the student created worksheets and games, basic game pieces, a laminator to laminate game pieces, play money, charts, and other various items to help them play the games. Through the funding of this grant you will be directly responsible for helping mold financially responsible young adults.
