Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students, like many others, have spent their entire school careers learning things that feel irrelevant. Financial literacy education in public school curriculum ranges from nonexistent to inadequate, and these kids deserve better. Even during our unit on money math, students often struggle to see the relevance to their own lives, t's hard to imagine taking out big loans, budgeting for monthly expenses, and saving for retirement at the age of 17 or 18.

Berna Anat's book, "Money Out Loud," is an engaging, fun, and relatable breakdown of the basics of financial literacy.

This book can help students see themselves as someone who can go out into the world and make a difference for themselves and their families. Help me bring these students helpful information in a fun, interactive way to help them enter their post-graduation lives as Adults Who Can Handle This.
