Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the head coach of our high school football team, I not only want to develop strong athletes but also help shape responsible, financially literate young adults. Many of our players aspire to continue their athletic careers in college, but balancing sports and managing personal finances can be challenging. To support their long-term success, I am requesting a laptop to teach my team crucial financial literacy skills such as budgeting, applying for scholarships, and managing their finances while playing college football.

A laptop will serve as an essential tool for teaching these valuable lessons.

It will allow me to create interactive workshops and guide players through budgeting exercises, scholarship searches, and financial planning. By learning how to track their expenses, manage a budget, and prepare for the financial demands of college sports, players will be better equipped to make informed decisions about their futures.

The laptop will enable us to explore real-life financial scenarios, track team budgets, and demonstrate the long-term benefits of responsible financial planning. Players will be able to apply for scholarships, calculate college costs, and learn how to balance their academic, athletic, and financial responsibilities. This knowledge will empower them to succeed both on and off the field, ensuring they have the tools to thrive in college and beyond.

Our football players are incredibly dedicated, both on the field and in the classroom. Many come from families where financial literacy isn’t widely taught, so providing them with this knowledge can be transformative. They are passionate about their future goals and eager to learn how to succeed not just as athletes, but as financially responsible individuals. This project will give them the tools to take control of their financial futures and make informed decisions that will positively impact their lives.
