My Students
Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten is an amazing and fun time that teaches you the foundations of reading, writing, and math. My students are getting that same experience, but now we're learning from home. I need the necessities to help teach my students about financial literacy.
The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.
Some of them come from situations that no one should ever experience. They impress me every day with their awesome attitudes and desire to learn. We are a full-day kindergarten class at a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, and 28% other.

Hmm... 2020. One of the most challenging years of my career.
Even though my students and I cannot be together in person at the beginning of the school year we are still going to push through and make it the best year yet!
I am requesting key materials that will help me teach my students about financial literacy but the tough part is I will be doing this through distance learning. The possession of these specific skills will prepare my students to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources later in life.
Our class would benefit from the teachers pay teachers gift card because I can purchase engaging curriculum that aligns with teaching the foundations of financial literacy such as needs versus wants, sorting, counting, and adding. The manipulatives will help us practice one to one correspondence, and the books will be used during our math block to help build on their number sense.
Because I am teaching my students in a distance learning model, it is now more important than ever that I have a microphone so the students can hear me clearly. Without it, my students may not grasp the full concept I am teaching in regard to financial literacy.
The materials I am requesting will not only be helpful during our distance learning but they will also used for years to come when we are able to go back into the classroom (something I am hoping and praying for).
