My Project

I am requesting cards, books, games and math challenges that are focused on money. I am working with students in 3rd-5th grade that are struggling to recognize coins, values, and basic money skills.

The NYS Standards do not go in depth with financial literacy and money, but it is one of the most important math skills for our students to learn.

Students will use money every day in the "real world", but there are very few standards in the math curriculum that address this topic. I would like to build their understanding of money recognition, combining amounts, finding the difference, estimation and making change.

I want my students to be able to see math in the real world, and these materials will help them to build a better foundation for financial literacy in their every day lives! The books will help them to connect money with real world situations, the games will help them with coin recognition and applying math to financial situations.
