My Students

My integrated co-teaching classroom is an exciting place for my NYC students from different cultures, socioeconomic demographics, and academic levels to learn and grow as scholars and citizens of a bigger world. They are taught and encouraged to work with others to challenge each other and themselves. It is a place where differences are celebrated and supported. As a class community, we understand that children learn in different ways and at different paces.

With that understanding in mind, students work together in teams to leverage each student’s strengths to help each other learn and grow.

Some students work best in groups, while others need some space to process information alone before engaging with others. Some students need hard copies of texts while others prefer digital or audio/visual access to those same or differentiated texts to best process and learn from them. The students are highly engaged in their learning and progress due to their input and investment in the process.

My Project

Students will learn about Financial Literacy through both direct instruction and station rotation exploration. Students learning stations will range from hands-on use of manipulatives to make different combinations of money, pretended purchasing to make different increments of money, saving challenges, and listening to mini-lessons and read alouds on the computer in addition to playing Prodigy.

Students will need both hands-on learning manipulatives and headphones to engage in various financial literacy learning stations with peers to learn and extend their understand and sense of money, spending, and saving as a life skill.
