Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are always asking me if I can give them supplies, snacks, or toys. I thought it would be great to teach them about financial literacy through a class store. We will do mini lessons on finances, set up a class store that involves paying taxes, unexpected expenses, and purchasing items (kind of like the game of Life).

Students will learn a concept, then we will put that concept into practice through the use of a class store where they can buy food , school supplies, or toys/fidgets.

My hope is this will teach them how to be more financially responsible. I have requested books to help me with the lessons, toys, fidgets, shoe charms and headbands (requested by students). The dish soap is for an opportunity for them to earn extra money by cleaning classroom supplies, and the snacks are for my students with special dietary needs (these are harder to find in the store and I do not want them to feel left out).
