Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

To help struggling readers achieve success in the classroom, FUN INDEPENDENT LEARNING MAKES SENSE [FILMS]. As a literacy specialist who teaches a fifth-grade class of twenty-seven students in an elementary school in the South Bronx, I work with a population of students who struggle with reading and writing. Some of these students are English-language learners, some are students with special needs, and others are mainstream students who are at least one year behind academically. During Reader's and Writer's Workshop, my struggling readers need extra support with basic literacy skills and motivation to help them work independently and stay on task. Diversifying the modality of independent learning with interesting literacy activities during independent work time will help all of my students make the most gains by keeping them on task and making independent learning fun. Struggling readers need extra support while they work independently. In order to provide the students with independence and make literacy fun while supporting their individual needs, our class needs appropriate materials. I have located fabulous materials that will make it possible for my struggling readers to maintain fun and independence while learning. FILMS for struggling readers! Support for this project will make a huge difference for these young learners. We are very excited and can�t wait for your response. Thanks in advance.
