My Project

Though I teach high school English courses, the senior level (grade 12) courses that I offer allow students to apply for and earn college credit from local colleges. For this project, I have requested instructional texts for two different senior level courses that I teach, Film as Literature and Writing. I am in the process of revising my course content and syllabi to ensure that my course material continues to align to the college level. The materials in this project would provide me with updated professional resources to improve my teaching and course offerings.

By updating and improving my overall knowledge in both Film Studies and writing, I can better provide college-level content and coursework.

Specifically for Film as Literature, I've included a text on the Horror Genre because that is the one my students are most drawn to (and the genre I have the least experience with). The other texts are ones which will help update my knowledge across the genres of Film and offer me tangible ideas to improve my teaching; therefore also improving the knowledge and skill base of my students. One specific text, The Film Experience, is available at a lower price from other sellers, but I wasn't sure those sellers were accepted here.

For my Writing class, I have requested an updated copy of The Little Seagull Handbook, a writing guide. My students have access to a digital copy of this, but a print copy would be helpful, and this is an updated version of the currently available text. Additionally I have requested a book specifically about annotated bibliographies, which is an area that I feel my students struggle with the most, and one I need better resources for.
